Blepharospasm

About Blepharospasm

Blepharospasm is a neurological condition where the muscles around the eyes contract involuntarily, causing frequent or forceful blinking. In some cases, the eyelids may shut uncontrollably for a few seconds, making it difficult to keep your eyes open. Though not painful, the condition can interfere with reading, driving, or day‑to‑day conversations.

Symptoms

  • Forceful, uncontrollable blinking
  • Eyelids closing involuntarily for seconds at a time
  • Light sensitivity or dry eyes
  • Interruption of vision during spasms
  • Worsens with stress or screen use
