About Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve running from the forearm into the palm becomes compressed at the wrist. You may feel numbness, tingling, or weakness in the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger. Tasks like gripping a pen, typing, or buttoning a shirt may feel difficult.
Symptoms
- Numbness, tingling in thumb, index, middle and half of ring finger
- Burning or aching pain in wrist and hand
- Weak grip and difficulty holding objects
- Symptoms often worse at night
- Hand clumsiness or dropping items
