Wrist drop is a condition where the hand hangs loosely from the wrist due to weakness or paralysis in the muscles that lift the hand and fingers. It usually results from damage or pressure on the radial nerve in the upper arm. You may find it hard to grip objects, write, or perform daily tasks that require wrist movement.

Symptoms

  • Inability to lift wrist and fingers upward
  • Hand hanging limply when arm is extended
  • Weak grip strength
  • Numbness or tingling on back of the hand
  • Difficulty with grasping or holding objects
